RV Industry Round-up December 2020

12/21/2020 Go RV Rentals

The latest news for the RV industry is in. Plenty of excitement is on the horizon, and while the year didn’t start off quite as well as anyone hoped it would, it seems to be on track for a better finish.

Here’s what you need to know about what’s happening in the industry today.

1. KOA Donation

Known for its generosity, KOA isn’t slowing down on giving back. This year, it plans to give over $900,000 to the children’s camping non-profit known as Care Camps. A noble cause indeed, it sends children with cancer to special treatment camps. While KOA always contributes, this year features an extra donation of $100,000 more, making it possible to help even more children with cancer.

2. Top Toy Haulers Named

The RV industry has its own awards, the RV awards. When new models release to the market, they are reviewed to see if they can get one of these highly-coveted awards. From a large selection, judges choose the select few that stand above the rest. The results are in, and the 2021 Cruiser RV Stryker 3313 travel trailer toy hauler was named the leader.

3. Outdoorsy Featured on Ellen

When you want to do good on a grander scale, head to The Ellen Show. During Ellen’s 12 Days of Giveaways, Outdoorsy made an appearance on the show on December 4th for the 8th day of giveaways. The audience, which included nurses from Regents Hospital in Minneapolis, was given a $500 gift card to use to take their own families on a safe road trip in an RV.

4. Camping Banned at CA State Parks

California is taking its regional shutdowns to stop the spread of the coronavirus another step further with more stringent rules that now apply to state parks. Camping has now been halted with temporary closures. While other activities like hiking or snowboarding are permitted, camping is not allowed during this time. The parks are issuing refunds to those holding reservations within the next several weeks.

5. Best Class B Motorhomes Named

From the creators of RV Lifestyle, the nine best Class B RVs for 2021 have been put together. Written by Mike and Jennifer Wendland, it details all the RVs worth consideration, taking the RV shows to the people who can’t make it there due to the pandemic.

6. Wholesale Shipments Post Gains

RV shipments seem to be experiencing growth, according to the RV Industry Association (RVIA). The RVIA’s findings indicate an increase of 21.4% from October 2019 to October 2020. This is great news, especially since the nearly two months of shutdown prior to May 2020 had left a gash in the industry, putting shipments down 25%. As more people seek creative and safe ways to get out there and travel, RVs are expected to experience more growth.

Now that you’re all caught up, hit the road in your RV and let it take you to the places of your dreams!
